What has been termed a shock move, Manchester United are on the verge of raiding the City of Madrid for Los Blancos mesmeric playmaker James Rodriguez who is said to have fallen out with Rafa Benitez, per reports.
The 24-year-old player had an impressive world cup outing in the penultimate summer in Brazil and became a Galaticos subsequently. He moved to Real Madrid from Monaco in 2014 in almost an €80 million deal that has made him the most expensive Colombian in the history of football.
Under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti, Rodriguez was a mainstay for Real Madrid but the appointment of Rafa Benitez has seen him reduced to a fringe player despite his quality. Rodriguez is reportedly unhappy with Benitez and might move away. Rodriguez has only featured four times in the League this term.
United being pro-active have already contacted the agent of the player’s agent Jorge Mendes about a probable move, per Fichajes. United are still rooting for quality players despite the signing of Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger in the summer.
Van Gaal’s side is currently inflicted with injuries and to sustain their hopes winning the title, they will a bigger squad than they currently have.
Rodriguez can play on the wing or behind the defender. Should United sign him, he will be a quality addition to the Red Devils.
