Arsenal have indeed started the season on a high in the English Premier League and are currently second on the Barclay’s Premiership table behind league leaders Manchester City.
However, the story has not been the same in the Champions League and it is quite obvious that something is missing from this Arsenal team which keeps robbing the team of wins when they should just easily coast by.
Fans are of the opinion that the missing key is the lack of a potent striker in the squad even with the fact that the team currently has Theo Walcott and Oliver Giroud.
This factor alone has also been a snag for the Gunners in some English League matches but they have always found a way to scale through.
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger decided not to sign any outfield player, especially a striker, knowing that the team needed one seriously but had a number of players on his radar to fill that position.
One of such players is Dynamo Moscow’s Aleksandr Kokorin and Arsenal have retained their keen interest in signing this Russian striker and are ready to offer £7 million to bring him to the Emirates to join Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud as striking options.
Arsenal were linked with a move for Dinamo Moscow’s number nine in the summer transfer window, and almost got the player on loan.
Kokorin, who has scored four goals in eight appearances this for Dynamo Moscow will be a perfect addition to the Gunners attacking option to compete with Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.
Fans will only hope that encouraging signs this season with regards to Walcott operating in a central striking position will not be enough for Wenger to refrain from signing a striker in the January transfer window.
