Drogba has recently concluded his first season in MLS with Montreal Impact and several players in the Chelsea squad believe Drogba is the man to turn things around at the Bridge.
A Blues source said: “Didier was always the man who kept spirits up.
“He can speak three or four languages and was on great terms with pretty much every different nationality in the whole squad.
“He was the one who used to post pictures of the players together on Instagram. He bought the gold rings for his team-mates to commemorate the Champions League win in 2012.
“A few players have spoken about how they miss him and it would be great if he could come back to train and reignite the old spark.”
Diego Costa is reportedly fighting to keep is place in the Chelsea starting lineup amid the club’s interest in Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain.
The Spaniard has been Mourinho’s first choice striker so far this term with Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao both reduced to second fiddle.
The return of the Ivorian would be a great addition to the Chelsea side with the players needing motivation following their bad start to the season.
The Chelsea legend is well known for his exploits on and off the pitch as Drogba is known to be a great inspiration to many players in the premier league.
