Mourinho is bent on recruiting from the La Liga after a move for Griezmann fell through in Summer. The Portuguese handler has now turned to Valencia’s Paco Alcacer as his choice target for the striking department come Winter transfer window. The Spain international was chosen ahead of Diego Costa by Del Bosque to lead the national team during the Euro qualifiers.
The 22 year-old came to the fore last season after an impressive La Liga season when he scored 11 goals in all 32 League appearances. He got called up to La Roja last year and has since banged in 6 goals in his first 10 appearances for the national team. Such performances have seen him become a target for major European clubs.
Alcacer has a 56 million Pounds buyout clause in his new contract, and reports say Chelsea will be looking at beating the price down in order to get a deal for his services secured by January. The Blues will be looking at using the influence of Super agent, Jorge Mendes to lure Alcacer to the Stamford bridge by Winter. Mendes isn’t the player’s representative, but he is an influential figure at Valencia, and could help Chelsea secure a move for the player. Reports say the Pensioners sent scouts to watch him play in the club’s recent 3 – 0 win over Malaga.
Mourinho’s position remains shaky as a continuous poor run might see Abramovic show him the exit door. But with the management coming out to pass a vote on confidence on the coach, and willing to support him, a sizeable amount of funds will likely be handed to him by the Russian magnate to bring in necessary addition come January. Getting Paco Alcacer might be the most feasible for Chelsea by winter, and he will no doubt be a great addition to the attack.
