Pep Guardiola has confirmed he is going to coach in England with what many people think is Manchester City. While it is widely believed that Guardiola will join his friends and erstwhile bosses, Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano at the Etihad in Manchester, it is believed that Chelsea’s Russian owner, Roman Abramovich will attempt to change his mind with an irresistible offer that the Catalan will not be able to refuse. He will be offered a huge salary and be given a huge transfer budget.
While disclosing his plan to move to the Premier League, the Catalan said, “I have an opportunity to work in England – I’m at the right age and I feel it is the right move for me”. According to the Daily Star, a source who is close to the principal actors in this situation was quoted as saying, “City think they have got him, but Chelsea are still very much in the running. He is leaving it out there and definitely hasn’t made up his mind up.” This quote will give Chelsea hope, as well as the fact that Guardiola’s wife is said to prefer London to Manchester.
Another factor likely to influence Guardiola’s decision is Jose Mourinho’s hero status with Chelsea fans. The two coaches do not see eye to eye and had a strained relationship when they both coached in Spain. Guardiola will not like to be in the shadow of the former Chelsea boss neither will he like to be compared with him.
