With the transfer window due to open in a number of days, rumours are already catching like wildfire. Various clubs are looking to improve their squad during this window opportunity just as many names are trending and circulating in potential moves. One of them, the report linking Chelsea to James Rodriguez, has got to be very interesting to follow.
Guus Hiddink was announced as interim manager of Chelsea with the mission to turn the club’s tide around and possibly land the club at a Champions league qualification berth. In a bid to prosecute that mandate, Hiddink has handed club owner, Roman Abramovich a list of players he needs in January. According to the Metro, top on the list is Real Madrid and Colombian playmaker, James Rodriguez.
The highly rated midfielder has been in superb form for Real this season but is taunted to leave the club due to the not so cordial relationship he enjoys with coach Rafael Benitez. Reports suggest that the 24-year-old playmaker will consider a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu and Chelsea’s interest might just reinforce that feeling yet again. The creative midfielder is valued at £60m, an amount Abramovich is expected to sanction to redeem the already battered image of his club.
So far this season, creative midfielders Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas are struggling badly and have both come in for serious criticisms. Should Rodriguez arrive at Stamford Bridge as speculated, one of the duo will be expected to be cut loose, more probably Fabregas.
