Arguably one of the most hardworking players in Arsenal and the Premier League, Arsene Wenger is looking to hand Alexis Sanchez rest. This is because according to various reports, the Chilean international is in the red zone and should he not be rested, he could suffer a fatigue injury just like the one Wilshere suffered about three years back.
Alexis Sanchez was absent from Arsenal’s pre-season tour and had very slow start at the beginning of the season. He had an impressive midway this season but Wenger is looking to leverage on their fixtures and grant the attacker rest in other to come back stronger when he is need most.
Sanchez had a four weeks break after July 4th when the won the Copa America and had no time to join the Gunners for the pre-season tour. On his return, he was immediately drafted into the squad but Wenger is been cautious in handling the player.
The Chilean is among players that travel the farthest during the international break if he is not managed properly, he might be sidelined due to fatique. Sanchez has scored six goals in 12 Premier league appearances in the League so far this term.
Prior to the International break, Arsenal had up to 10 players sidelined with various injuries but Hector Bellerin, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Chamberlain will be back to provide more options in attack for the Gunners.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will play West Brom in their next Premier League match, Alexis might play from the bench.
