ArsenalLFC have officially announced the signing of 31 year old England international Fara Williams from Liverpool Ladies.
Williams was part of the England squad that finished third in last year’s world cup and she was awarded an MBE in the New Year honours list.
This move is a big coup for ArsenalLFC and their fans. They will benefit greatly from Williams experience, she (Williams) has appeared in three world cups, three European championships and the London Olympics. After winning the continental cup in 2015, ArsenalLFC intend to win their first league title since 2012 and they have moved swiftly to get one of the best in the women championship.
The sale of Fara Williams comes as another blow for Liverpool ladies as their decline continues. After 2013 and 2014 league triumphs, Liverpool ladies finished second bottom in the WSL last season. Their decline has led to the sale of their top players and Fara Williams is the seventh player to leave the club in the transfer window.
