Sometimes, you are faced with very critical and life-changing decisions that leave you at your wit’s end. You think, and ponder, and permutate, and calculate which option pays best. There are other other times when you are faced with a decision, you know (you just know deep inside of you for certain) what the answer is. Chelsea’s Willian was once down that road en route Stamford Bridge.
The-27-year-old Brazil international signed for Chelsea in 2013 following a dramatic transfer saga. Willian was supposedly on his way to Liverpool until the deal was hijacked by Tottenham. White Hart lane seemed the destination until Chelsea hijacked the deal and landed their star man. He has gone ahead to establish himself as a first-team regular and is the standout Chelsea player so far this season.
The Brazilian has really impressed with his performances and goals for the club and provide an assist for the Blues’ second goal in their 2-2 draw against Watford at Stamford Bridge on Boxing day. He has 15 goals to his credit in 113 appearances for the club.
In a sensational interview he granted, the former Anzhi Makhachkala player relived his move to Stamford Bridge.
“I don’t know how I can explain that moment. But I think it was the best moment in my life when I signed with Chelsea because it was my dream to come here. So when I came, I was very happy to play for Chelsea and to win titles here. It was difficult because all that was left was to go to Tottenham, but I didn’t sign [until] the last moment Chelsea came in. I said, ‘I’m sorry, but I will go to Chelsea. That’s my dream, I have to go there, I don’t care, but I go there’”.
Willian followed his dream and today, he is not regretting it.
