Chelsea could have to themselves a free agent in former Tottenham’s striker, Emmanuel Adebayor as the African star is currently in search of a club and has expressed his desires to play in the EPL after the White Hart Lane outfit terminated his contract at the beginning of the season. The ex-Togo international has spent the majority of his professional career in the EPL, with stints at Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham. He announced himself at the Emirates with his goal-scoring prowess when he first arrived from the French Ligue.
The African striker is a Mourinho favorite due to his physicality and style of play. The Portuguese once brought him to the Santiago Bernabeu on loan during his reign in charge of Real Madrid, and that could make them reunite once again due to the relationship they forged together at the Spanish capital. Adebayor is set to arrive in London next week to discuss his future with the West London outfit as regards a possible deal by January when the Winter transfer market opens.
The 31 year-old possesses a wealth of Premier League experience and could provide a solution to Chelsea’s striking problems in the short-term as he is not likely to get more than a year deal if eventually signed. The Togo legend is the highest goal scorer for his home country with 28 goals, and he helped the West African nation qualify for its first and only World Cup tournament till date when he led them to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
