Gabriel Paulista Passes Fitness Test, To Play Against Bayern Munich

On a positive note for Arsenal, their tough-tackling defender Gabriel Paulista has been certified almost fit for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian was absent for Arsenal when they thrashed Watford in the Premier League yesterday – he was reportedly ill but could be back in the defence of Arsenal when they travel to the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

Having lost their Champion League matches consecutively, Arsene Wenger will be looking to field his best XI as they chances for qualification looks thin. Bayern have been in superb form in the Champions League, winning all fixtures.

The emergence of Gabriel as first choice over Mertesacker stemmed from his stellar performance along defensive stalwart Koscielny when the aforementioned German was out with illness.

Gabriel has been impressive in all the games he’s featured. Notably, the match against Manchester United, where he ably neutralised the threats from Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial.

Although, he was called up for Brazil during the international break, the 24-year-old will be hoping to get the nod over Mertesacker on Tuesday night in a matched tagged as “must win” for Wenger and his boys.

Meanwhile, Arsenal got the better of Watford in the Premier league yesterday and they will be hoping to replicate their recent League form in the Champions League.
