Keane has been called back by Manchester United and Dutchman Louis Van Gaal to provide adequate cover in the striking positions for the 20-time English champions. Louis Van Gaal’s men have endured a disappointing season so far presently languishing outside the champions league places(Top 4) in 5th place in the Premier League after an early exit from the UEFA Champions League in addition to a well-documented struggle in front of goal.
Only three teams namely Stoke City, Liverpool and Crystal Palace in the league’s top 10 have scored lesser goals than United though Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Welsh side Swansea City gave the team their first win in nine games and also saw the return to goalscoring form for both Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial.
Will Keane scored 2 goals in 22 appearances at Deepdale and is now expected to complement Martial and Rooney in attack as former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager Louis Van Gaal plots a way to rescue his team’s ailing season. It remains to be seen whether Keane would be of the required quality to succeed with the first team in tough competitions such as the Premier League, English FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.
