English FA Cup champions Arsenal have expressed a strong interest in Leicester City’s in-form Algerian midfielder Riyad Mahrez, who has scored 14 goals for the Foxes this season.
According to reports, the North London club made a firm enquiry about Mahrez in a bid to seal a deal ahead of other interested parties but its unlikely a move would materialise during the January transfer window due to Leicester City’s stand against his sale.
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has also reiterated that the Algerian would be staying with the club alongside another key performer Jamie Vardy. The 24-year old play maker has therefore underlined his manager’s assertions by indicating his willingness to stay with his team until at least the end of the season.
Aside Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked to the Algerian which will play perfectly into Leicester City’s hand as a bidding war means they will be able to command more fee for the player.
It is believed a bid of £25 million will be enough to prise away the Algerian from Leicester City.
