Reports have it that Arsenal have reached out to Leicester City over a price for their in form forward, Riyad Mahrez. It is believed that Arsenal have opened talks over the Algerian with Leicester. But despite Arsenal’s interest, it is believed that the deal is likely to end in failure as Mahrez has committed his future to Leicester recently by signing a new 4-year deal in August last year.
Mahrez has previously stated his desire to see out the rest of the season with Leicester. Mahrez who has already bagged 14 goals this season has become an important member of the Leicester team and has been very instrumental to their highly successful campaign this season.
The 5ft Algerian, who plays as a winger for Leicester began his professional career in 2009 with French side Quimper. Mahrez also represented the Algeria side in the 2014 FIFA world cup. He has won 20 international caps with Algeria, scoring 3 goals in the process. The 24-year old, signed for leicester in 2014 for a £300000 deal.
He has ever since developed since joining the EPL side. He was nominated player of the month for August, after scoring 4 goals in Leicester’s opening 3. He has had a fantastic season with the club and he recently scored a hatrick against Swansea, becoming the first Algerian to score a Premier League hat-trick.
Mahrez is able to play in any attacking midfield role, but has mainly featured as a right side attacking midfielder. He has made 7 league assists this season so far.
