It has been reported by Football Italia that Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic has confirmed that the reigning Premier League champions Chelsea have expressed interest in signing him, as he was informed by the Blues midfielder and national team compatriot Nemanja Matic.
Matic hasn’t had a great season himself but still remains a part of Jose Mourinho’s long-term plans.
Grujic has risen to stardom while playing for the Serbian Superliga side Red Star Belgrade over the last couple of years, resulting in Chelsea tracking his progress this season.
Grujic said: “Nemanja Matic is a friend. He’s Serbian and he has been at Chelsea for over a year. He tells me that they want me.”
Alongside Chelsea,Man United are also chasing for talented midfielder with Real Madrid set to hijack their deal with Lucas Biglia, as Louis Van Gaal believes that Grujic can be a perfect long-term replacement for top class midfielder Michael Carrick.
Chelsea are currently suffering midfield woes with more than half of the entire midfield underperforming this season, Mourinho will be looking towards a fresh pair of legs to shake things around the club up a little bit.
Chelsea take on Norwich in their next premier league fixture and a loss against the Canaries could see them drop down into the relegation zone depending on results from other sides.
