Reading executive Samrit Thanakanchanasut has recently stated that Chelsea want back their star centre-back Michael Hector from his loan spell at the club and they want the player back by the January transfer window according to reports from Goal.
Chelsea had initially bought the superb youngster from Reading in the summer transfer window but loaned him back to the Royals on a season-long loan deal so he would get first-team opportunities.
However, the Blues have suffered greatly because of their defene this season and have conceded a whooping 23 goals in 13 Premier League matches as against 32 goals concded in 38 Premier League matches last season on their way to winning the league title.
The Blues defence has been poor as John Terry is obviously old and tired while Gary Cahill is already on a decline.
The Blues made a couple of panic buys after losing out of the transfer of Everton’s centre-back John Stones and bought players like Papy Djilobodji who have not been able to contribute much to the team.
Thanakanchanasut has therefore confirmed that Chelsea want the Jamaican international centre-back Hector to return to the Stamford Bridge and maybe replace one of their fumbling defenders.
Thanakanchanasut said, “Chelsea want him back early, but I think we’ll retain him as we agreed until the end of the season.”
Hopefully, the 23-year-old defender can be the key to saving Chelsea’s campaign this season as the team seriously need a trn-around and quickly too.
