In what is obviously another surprising transfer rumour, La Liga Champions, Barcelona are said to be interested in the services of Chelsea’s substitute striker, Radamel Falcao. The Catalunya have been linked with some unexpected names as the Winter transfer window approaches. Dutch players, Dirk Kuyt and Robin Van Persie, both of whom are past their primes are said to be winter-target for the Champions League defending champions. Radamel Falcao completes the “Trinity” speculations, and it’s only best imaginable seeing the trio in Barcelona colours come next year.
Trusted Spanish and English press reported that the player who was a transfer target for Barcelona during his hay days is now being monitored for a move soon. Barcelona have been hit with all sorts of trouble in recent times : injuries to Rafinha, Messi and Iniesta, a transfer ban that ends in January, and inability to field newly-acquired players despite legal moves to, and their desperation seems to be making them look at any player available for cheap for help, as they have obviously been struggling since their troubles started.
But with Falcao now being mentioned in the same sentence with Barcelona, it remains a possibility that the news is just another rumour that will likely get discarded in few days’ time.
Falcao fell from grace following his departure from the Vicente Calderon in the Summer of 2013 to AS Roma in a big money move. An injury he picked up before the 2014 World Cup has made him lose his once-great form, and he has moved to Manchester United and Chelsea in a space of 6 months in search of form, one that doesn’t seem forthcoming. He has scored a goal for the Blues this season, and remains the 3rd choice in the pecking order of the team’s striking option.
