Ahead of Arsenal Monday clash with arch rival Manchester City, Arsene Wenger has revealed that his Chilean power house has returned to training with the first team and might be fit to play in the match, according to reports.
Alexis Sanchez picked up a hamstring injury in the game against Leicester City last month and is yet to feature since then. Sadly for Arsenal, he is not the only player injured, Santi Cazorla also picked up a knee injury.
The aforementioned Chilean travelled to Chile on the instruction his national team doctors. However he has since returned to training at Arsenal after spending time with his national team doctor.
Wenger confirmed his returned but admitted that he is short of returning for the game against Manchester City.
“He may be a bit short for City, Certainly, but with Alexis you never know”
“He is running already. I sent him back to Chile, where he has been running with the physio of the national team, we will see what kind of state he is in”
Before the injury, Sanchez had scored seven League goals, providing several assist. However, in his absence Joel Campbell has been featuring for the Gunners and he might be handed another start on Monday if Sanchez is not completely fit.
His return is a big boost for the attack of Arsenal who have Welbeck still out.
