Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has stated that the club is interested in signing Real Madrid forward, Jesse Rodriguez for a fee worth £29.5 million (€40 million) this January. According to reports, Arsenal have received encouragement from Real Madrid for the player. Sources at Arsenal believe the club’s £29.5 million bid is accepted by Real Madrid. The deal is likely going to sail through as the Spaniard is merely a rotational player at Real Madrid and as such, the club will be willing to sell him off at such a good price.
The 22-year old Spanish international has played 44 times for Real Madrid with 10 goals to his name; he can play both as a striker and winger. He was promoted to Real Madrid senior team in 2013 having featured regularly for the youth team. Hence he is the kind of player that will fit into Arsene Wenger’s style.
Arsenal were linked to another Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema all through last summer, but Benzema has again established himself as a regular starter for the Madrid-based giants under Spanish coach Rafa Benitez; therefore, Arsenal have turned their attention to a younger Real Madrid forward.
Jesse Rodrigues, who has never played for the senior national team of Spain, will be looking for a way to boost his prospect of being part of the Spanish squad to next year’s European championship that will be held in France. However, there is doubt over the need for another forward by Arsenal as Costa Rican forward, Joel Campbell has established himself into the team with some good performances, but the sudden availability of young and versatile player like Jesse Rodriguez and the latest update on the injury of Danny Welbeck could make the gunners go for Jesse.
