Arsene Wenger says he wants to rest Alexis Sanchez to prevent him from feeling Jaded but can’t because of Arsenal’s current injury crisis which sees the likes of Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere out on the sidelines.
Alexis Sanchez has played 69 matches for Arsenal since joining from Barcelona some 15 months ago alongside a busy international schedule for Chile looking at the Copa America and other international fixtures.
Sanchez was given a short leave of absence to sit out Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Singapore after winning the Copa America with his country in the summer.
However, Wenger feels he is now unable to give him the rest his body craves due to the injuries to fellow forward men, with this month certainly dubbed as ‘woevember’ for the Arsenal side.
“I am worried because before he went away with Chile he was a bit jaded. But if I ask him ‘are you tired?’ you can guess the answer,” he said.
Sanchez couldn’t prevent Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat against West Brom which saw them pass up the chance to go top of the premier league following City’s heavy 4-1 defeat to Liverpool.
It’s obvious Sanchez is in need of a rest when he plays and hopefully Wenger will be able to rest him as the January transfer window approaches with Theo Walcott set to return from injuries.
