Recent reports from the Emirates have been suggesting that Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is still keen on adding to the side in this transfer window and it will likely be a midfielder and maybe even a defensive midfielder.
This has led to a number of outfits suggesting that he might be interested in signing Southampton’s defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has been a long-term target of th Gunners and it might seem likely that the French boss will pursue the transfer for this kind of player, especially with Arsenal lacking a lot of options in the midfield area.
Also, the player’s contract with Southampton is set to expire in 2017 and the player does not seem to be ready to renew his contract with the Saints and this means they might lose him for free which is unreasonable.
So reports are now stating that Southampton are ready to let Wanyama go in the summer so that they can at least cash in on him before it is too late.
However, the stipulated fee is £20m and that is where the problem is.
Wenger is not a coach that is known to be ready to spend such an amount on such a player and to worsen the Kenyan’s case, he will have less than one year left on his contract by then.
Moreover, the Gunners just signed Mohamed Elneny from Basel for the same position, so it is not likely that Wenger will sign another player into that sane position and at such a staggering amount.
It remains to be seen then what happens with this player but maybe he might likely move to Tottenham Hotspur after all.
