Amidst all of the transfer news and rumours making the rounds, Walsall midfielder Romaine Sawyers has made a statement to increase the rumours about himself and Arsenal. The high rated midfielder has been linked to Chelsea recently but it appears he may be off to the Emirates instead of to Stamford Bridge.
The fantastic midfielder who currently features for League one side Walsall was asked about the interest in him from Arsenal and he stated that although he has been linked to a number of clubs in the English Premier League but he can only play for one as his heart is with Arsenal so much.
It would make some sense for Arsenal to sign such a player at this time as injuries to Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky have ensured that the Gunners have had to pull tight in the midfield.
Sawyers said about his potential transfer to Arsenal that, “I am an Arsenal fan, me personally,”“When I was at West Brom, I would go to the game and there was a bit of a connection there, but my actual team is Arsenal.” “It’s flattering to hear. It shows that I am doing something good, but again my commitments are with Walsall.”
It remains to be seen if Wenger will pounce on this opportunity as the midfielder will fit the bill perfectly and will not be one the fans will fight against as he could add something to the team at the moment and will definitely provide cover until some players resume and will also grant some the occasional needed rest as the team tries for trophies this season.
