Reports say Mourinho is insistent on getting Atletico Madrid’s star player and France international, Antoine Griezmann by all cost in the next transfer window. The Pensioners had tried to lure the 24 year-old away from the Vicente Calderon during the Summer transfer window, but Atletico had been hesitant.
However, being a selling club, refusing a higher price when Chelsea approach them again will be hard, and Mourinho wants exactly that. The Real Sociedad’s former forward is said to be currently worth more than £56.5million Pounds, his buyout clause.
Chelsea are desperately in need of fresh options upfront after their to start to one of the worst seasons so far. Costa hasn’t been able to find his form, and has continued his unruly behaviour which attracts bans, while Remy and Falcao haven’t been able to deliver in the Spaniard’s absence, with rumours already linking the latter to a move back to his parent club, AS Monaco by January. The wingers haven’t been extraordinary except for Willian, and both Hazard and Oscar are already a victim of the bench due to their poor performances. The team must bring in replacement if they are to finish in at least top 4.
Antoine Griezmann has the quality to bring the needed change to the attacking department at the Stamford Bridge. Formerly a wide man at Sociedad, the lethal finisher has proven himself as an equally better central forward with Atletico Madrid. He has scored 31 goals in 64 games across all competitions for the Rojiblancos, and has attracted offers from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal. Chelsea could eventually break the bank to get him by Winter, but he won’t come easy.
