Arsenal are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi in January, but the north London club could be trumped in the race with the player alleged to have told friends he favours a move to La Liga giants Barcelona, as per the Daily Star.
Lavezzi is reported to be frustrated with lack of enough game time at the Paris outfit and this has prompted a flurry of interests from several European heavyweights.
Famous Spanish tabloid Mundo Deportivo [per the Star] claims the former Napoli wide man has told pals Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano – both of Barcelona – that he wants a move to the Nou Camp.
Barca boss Luis Enrique is currently on the scour for a top notch forward to replace Pedro Rodriguez who left the club for Chelsea in the summer and, Lavezzi could fit the bill.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger failed to sign a single outfield player in the summer with goalkeeper Petr Cech the only arrival. And the Frenchman is now looking to bring in Lavezzi when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
The Gunners travel to Wales this weekend to face Swansea in the Premier League and could go top of the table if Manchester City stumbles in their own game.
Lavezzi has scored one goal in 13 outings so far for the French Ligue 1 champions and would jump at the chance to play at a club who will offer him enough game time.
