The Sun newspaper are reporting Chelsea have had a bid of £32 accepted, for the sale of their A class striker, Edinson Cavani, who is been tipped as a direct replacement for last season’s league top scorer, Diego Costa, who has been visibly out of ideas this season. Costa has also been heavily linked with a move back to Madrid, as he has suffered strained relationships with a section of the Blues supporters.
Chelsea are urgently in need of strikers as their attack have woefully failed so far. Diego Costa who was in a blistering form last season, scoring 20 goals, have only managed 5 so far. Chelsea forward men in Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao have only managed to score 7, a figure that is twice as poor as Jamie Vardy’s tally so far.
Chelsea who have disappointed all season are obviously and urgently in need of fresh attackers, Chelsea’s front men have all failed to deliver, the 3 front men have all misfired this season. Aside Chelsea, Manchester United are another Premier League side that are heavily interested in the striker as well. So, Chelsea may face some stiff competitions while trying to land the Uruguay international.
United are also in need of new strikers as Rooney have lost so much form this season, while youngster, Anthony Martial, has suffered a bit of inconsistency, as minor injuries have seriously limited his playing time. French newspaper, L’Equipe has also reported Cavani’s impatience at France. It is reported that the striker is hungry for a new challenge and can’t wait.
The former Napoli striker have scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for both club and country this season, completing 83.7% of his passes. Cavani is a very strong finisher and is regarded as one of the most feared front men in Europe. Cavani joined PSG in 2013 from Napoli for a staggering €64million. The 28-year old has scored a total of 169 league goals in 319 league appearances since the start of his professional career.
