As Manchester United intensify efforts to have a better second half of the season, they have continued to identify major transfer targets for the Winter transfer window of January, amongst which is Wolfsburg fullback, Ricardo Rodríguez. The left back has emerged as the best choice to replace Luke Shaw, who, although continues to show great improvement as he recovers from a double fracture he picked up against PSV in the Champions League about 2 months ago, is still ruled out for the remainder of the season.
LVG believes the 23 year-old Switzerland international, who is regarded as one of the best left backs in the Bundesliga is perfect cover for the injured England international. The Dutch coach has had scouts keep an eye on Rodríguez for a while now and will be hoping to sanction a Winter move for him by January.
Rodríguez is highly regarded in Wolfsburg not only for his quality defending abilities, but also for his attacking features. The Swiss is known for his mastery of penalty and free kicks, and has scored majority of his career goals from dead ball situations. Rodríguez is also good with the head and has a high passing precision cum accuracy.
His availability however isn’t guaranteed as he is also a target for some other elite European sides. Should Wolfsburg express willingness to let him go, United will have to beat La Liga duo, Barcelona and Real Madrid to his signature as the two have expressed keen interest in the player’s services. The player will no doubt be a good buy for United if they successfully get him.
