After failing to impress upon his arrival at the Old Trafford, speculations over the future of Memphis Depay have continued to grow, and a move away could be in the books soon as Real Madrid have shown interest in luring the Netherlands international to the Santiago Bernabeu. With C.Ronaldo’s future with the La Liga champions not guaranteed as a move to PSG has been continually rumoured, Madrid believe Depay will be a perfect replacement if he eventually departs.
The 22 year-old former PSV left winger arrived the Theatre of dreams in May in a very valuable Summer transfer deal amidst great hype after he had netted 39 goals in 90 Eredivise League appearances. But he has seen his role reduced to a substitute player as he has not started in recent games for the United following poor performances before then. Louis Van Gaal has had to do with Anthony Martial on the left wing while Wayne Rooney was returned to the front role of the attack. Depay has come under criticism following his inconsistent performances, and has also been dropped by Netherlands coach for the next international break games due to his poor form.
Madrid are said to be ready to spend £45.5 million in order to acquire the services of the highly-rated player. A January deal for the Winter transfer window is being targeted by the Spanish giants, and the player could be on his way out after failing to settle in the EPL.
