Manchester United handler, Louis van Gaal has continued to talk about his plans to get a central defender by the next transfer window. The Dutchman missed out on Ramos during the Summer transfer window after rumors emerged that the Madrid’s skipper was on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu. The Red Devils have had only Chris Smalling as the only guaranteed central back thus far this season, with the coach rotating the duo of Blind and Jones to pair with the England international. With another opportunity presenting itself once the Winter transfer window opens for United to get a quality and proven central half, here are 3 players United can do with.
Dortmund centre back and long-term target, Neven Subotic remains a bright prospect for the United’s defence. The Red Devils have always had the Serbia international on their radar since Sir Alex Ferguson was coach, and would do well with the services and experiences he has to offer. The 26 year-old who penned a new 2 year-deal with Dortmund has always talked of his admiration of the EPL and could eventually leave if a sizable offer is tabled to the German side.
Everton recently gave everybody a green light in the pursuit of the England international central half after they declared him up for grabs by the Winter transfer window for 45 million Pounds. United have always expressed interest in the defensive services of the 21 year-old as Van Gaal has identified him as a transfer target. But they face competition from Chelsea and Barcelona as the clubs have their eyes on Stones too. The former Barnsley defender has been spectacular again this season both defensively and offensively, and will no doubt be a good buy for United if they make a quick move for him.
The Brazil international has always expressed his desires to leave PSG after failing to break into the regular lineup with the coach preferring Silva and Luis over him in the heart of the defense. United have him on their radar and could make a move for him by January so as to have his quality services to themselves. The 21 year-old central defender will no doubt be a great addition to the squad if he is signed.
