In a bid to consolidate on his team rebuilding effort, Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is looking to add depth and quality to his attacking line with Bayern Munich’s winger Arjen Robben emerging as a transfer prime target for the Dutch tactician.
Reports emerged that Robben fell out with team mate Lewandowski and is looking for a move away from the Allians Arena. It is believed that Van Gaal is keen on re-united with his former player and is even willing to pay €70 million for the impressive winger, per Don Balon.
In the summer, Van Gaal tried to secure the services of Pedro Rodriguez from Barcelona but the Spaniard opted to move to Stamford Bridge and United are left with thin options on the flank.
United have been relatively impressive this term – they are currently in second place on the Premier League table but their side have been decimated by injuries. The interest in Robben seems smart as Manchester City and Arsenal seem inconsistent. If United successfully sign the attacker, he will guarantee the Red Devils some goals and their title ambition will be more realistic.
Robben, 31, is vastly experienced. He played under Jose Mourinho in Chelsea before moving to Real Madrid. It will not take him time to settle in the Premier league.
Meanwhile, United are currently place second on the Premier League log but are one point adrift of League leaders Leicester City.
