Chelsea has been seriously linked with Brazilian attacker, Alex Teixeira. Before the sack of former Chelsea coach, Jose Mourinho, reports of the 25-year old’s potential move to the Stamford Bridge seriously trended, not until the unfortunate sack of the 52-year old Portuguese. After his sack, rumors of the player’s move to Chelsea greatly reduced, but Spanish media outlet, Fichajales reports that Chelsea have reignited their interest on the player and are close to finalizing a deal for the versatile attacker.
Fichajales also went ahead to state that Chelsea should be thankful to Teixeira’s former Shaktar teammate, Willian and fellow Brazilian, Oscar. The report claims that the Chelsea duo were instrumental in convincing the Shaktar man to agree a deal to move to Stamford Bridge.
The report claims that Teixeira’s close relationship with Willian and Oscar is the big reason behind his willingness to join the London side. All three are Brazilians with Teixeira and Willians formerly teammates at Shaktar. Willian has arguably been Chelsea’s lone shining light this season and once again was on target during Chelsea’s weekend win at Crystal Palace.
Texeira has also proven to be open to an offer to play in the Premier League if the opportunity arrives. Teixeira also suggested a possible move to Stamford Bridge “Am glad to hear a club like Chelsea is interested on me, it would be important to play in a tournament such as the premier league. And better yet if it comes in January, am welcoming a new challenge”.
Teixeira has not made a senior appearance for Brazil, but currently the leading scorer in Ukraine. The Brazilian have witnessed an explosive form this season, which has made Chelsea so interested in him. Teixeira can play behind a striker and can also effectively take up the striking role as he has convincingly done this season. With Cesc Fabregas currently facing some heavy criticism from some quarters and Diego Costa, reportedly considering a return to Spain, Alex Teixeira would be a potent replacement for both players.
The impressive attacker joined Shaktar from Vasco Da Gama in 2010 and has been overly impeccable. The Shaktar man has netted 22 goals in just 15 matches and follows up the amazing record with 5 assists all just in the league alone. The player has been handed a more advance role this term owing to the departure of Luiz Adriano to AC Milan.
