There is a claim that United are ready to revive their interest in former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato, and as per the Metro, Corinthians have slapped a £18.6m price tag on the Brazilian forward.
Pato, 26, was linked with a switch to Old Trafford in the summer as United were on the scour for a striker following the exits of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao. But it appeared the Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal backed out of the deal and opted to sign Anthony Martial instead.
During his time at the San Siro, Pato was hard done by series of injuries which almost ruined his career, but the Brazilian seems to have gotten his mojo since returning to his homeland club Sao Paulo.
Pato has bagged an impressive 33 goals for the Brazilian outfit in 81 appearances since joining, and his parent club Corinthians have confirmed they would be open to selling if the right offer arrives.
“At the moment there are only enquiries,” Corinthians chief executive Eduardo Ferreira was quoted as saying to TV Show Globo Esporte.
“But if a club comes in with an offer of €25m [£18.5], we will let him go, otherwise he will return in January.”
Pato shot to limelight as a 16-year old while playing in Brazil, and since then he became one of the most sought-after strikers in the world during that time. However, the injuries he suffered at Milan negatively affected his fortunes.
