Manchester United are reportedly ready to raid Premier League champions Chelsea in a bid to snatch Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard from their claws in a deal said to be around £65m according to English news outlet Daily Star.
Eden Hazard has grown to become one of the most important players at Stamford Bridge since his £32m move from Lille Metropole since his move in the summer of 2012 and that was further underlined as he led Chelsea to their first Premier league title in five years and was subsequently named PFA and football writers’ Player of the Year. He has so far failed to hit those heights this season in disappointing fashion and has not scored in 25 outings across the Premier League and UEFA Champions League leading to suggestions he is disillusioned with life at the club and is holding out for a transfer.
20-time English champions Manchester United have been strongly linked with Real Madrid’s Welsh star Gareth Bale but they have admitted defeat in their pursuit opting for Hazard though they will have to secure Champions League football to stand a chance with Chelsea’s chance of making Europe’s premier competition next season looking very slim.
Chelsea are however hopeful Ivorian legend Didier Drogba, linked with a coaching return, could help persuade Hazard to stay at the club with other European heavyweights such as Bayern Munich, PSG and Real Madrid also interested in the 25-year old forward.
