Feghouli, 25, has been linked with a move away from the Mestalla and, the Red Devils have made an initial approach for the Algerian attacker. Man United boss Louis van Gaal wants to amplify his options in the wide areas and, the Dutchman has pinpointed Feghouli as the ideal fit.
The Algerian international is in the final year of his contract at Valencia and is yet to agree an extension to the deal. The Metro claims United are aiming to take advantage of Feghouli’s contract situation at the Mestalla, and have made the first approach for the brilliant midfielder.
Feghouli, 25, will be fit to negotiate and sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January and, Manchester United will, as per the report, look to seal the deal when the transfer window reopens in the New Year. Nevertheless, it is claimed the player is in no rush to leave Valencia unless there is a flurry of interests for him.
But van Gaal’s side will have to fend off competitions from fellow Premier League contenders Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, as per reports. Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Roma in order to complete the signature of the all-action footballer.
Feghouli joined Valencia in the summer of 2010 from Grenoble and is a full-time Algerian international with 35 caps – having represented France at the Under-18s and Under-21s levels.
United are lacking pace and agility on the wings, with summer recruit from PSV Eindhoven Memphis Depay struggling to replicate the form that saw him notch 22 goals for the Eredivise champions last term.
Therefore, Feghouli could prove to be the solution for Man United’s problems on the wings. But the Algerian’s versatility means he can also operate in the central midfield role. Feghouli has bagged four goals and gathered two assists for Valencia so far this season.
