LVG To Launch Bid For £53m-Rated Arsenal Attacker Who Snubbed Real Madrid In The Summer

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is still hell-bent on bringing in a marquee signing, with his efforts to sign one over the summer thwarted.

The Dutch tactician was linked with a mega-money swoop for Bayern Munich goal poacher Thomas Muller, as well as Barcelona attacker Neymar, in the summer, but moves to bring in either of the duo failed to materialise.

And the Red Devils boss is still on the scour. Now, Man United are linked with Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez, with the Metro saying the Mancunian Reds are readying a €53m bid for the Chilean footballer.

Van Gaal became enchanted with the displays of Alexis as the Gunners’ attacker ripped apart the Red Devils’ defence when both sides met in October – with Arsenal edging out the encounter 3-0.

Alexis, 26, perfectly fits the bill of a winger who is pacey and agile, as that is exactly the type of player the Dutchman has claimed to be interested in bringing to Old Trafford due to his side’s lack of pace upfront.

The former Barcelona star is currently sidelined with a calf injury and is highly likely to be out of action for Chile when they face Uruguay today.

Reports claim Alexis is ready to make the switch to Old Trafford and snub Real Madrid, who are reportedly keen to add him to their ranks next summer.

However, it is unlikely Arsenal will let the charismatic forward leave for Manchester United after making the mistake of selling Robin van Persie to the twenty-time Premier League champions when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge of the Red Devils. Van Persie went on to win the Premier League title with United – their twentieth!
