Reports have been claiming that Manchester United have held talks with super-agent Mino Raiola about signing one of the players he manages and that is AC Milan 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Donnarumma made his Serie A League debut for AC Milan on Sunday when he started for them against Sassuolo in their Serie A encounter.
In fact, the young goalkeeper became the youngest ever player to start a top-flight Italian league game.
However, the report from Calciomercato claims that prior to Donnarumma signing a professional deal with Milan, Man United were eager to bring him to Old Trafford.
The Italian report says that the Red Devils were reportedly enchanted with the goalkeeper’s skills at such a young age and held talks with Raiola about signing the 16-year-old.
The reports from Calciomercato also suggest that the talks were made possible due to United’s manager Louis van Gaal’s excellent relationship with the super-agent, especially since the two worked closely together to bring Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero to Old Trafford.
Donnarumma made one save against Sassuolo and was not able to keep a clean sheet but recorded a 100% claim success rate and was accurate with 91% of his distributed balls as AC Milan went on to win the match 2-1.
Milan currently find themselves mid-table in the Serie A and their manager has seen the need to change something and has chosen to trust Donnarumma in between the posts. Their next fixture sees them host Chievo and Donnarumma will be hoping to start once again and give an impressive performance.
