The Real Madrid legend declared his admiration for Hazard but refused to be drawn on media reports that the Chelsea ace is a transfer target for the La Liga giants, according to the ESPN.
And this appears to be a prelude to the main action, as people involved with Real are known to always come out with praises for any player the club is keen to sign.
Hazard has failed to replicate the form that saw him bag both of the top individual awards in the Premier League last season as Chelsea won the league title, and speculation about the Belgian’s future at Stamford Bridge has now intensified as the Blues currently languish in 16th place on the log.
Zidane, a World Cup winner with France in 1998 and a Champions League winner with Real Madrid in 2001/02, praised the Belgium international star but failed to mention whether Real should sign him.
“You’ll have to ask other people that,” the Real Madrid Castilla boss told a news conference.
“I’m not in a position to answer. Me, I love the player.”
However, Zidane adds that he expects Hazard to rediscover his form in time to spearhead Belgium’s campaign in next year’s European Championships in France.
“He’s my favourite player [on the Belgian team],” the three-time FIFA World Footballer of the Year said.
“He’s the one that gives me the most when I see Belgium play.
“He has six months left. It’s part of a career – you have to accept that there’ll be time when you are not as good.
“But I’m not worried about him for the European Championship.
