The Serbian international has reportedly been on Liverpool’s radar for weeks now and he has finally confirmed via his Official Facebook page, that the deal will take place on Monday.
“On 4th January I will become a Liverpool player,” Grujic Confirmed via his Official Facebook page.
The deal is believed to be worth 5.1 million pounds and would make him the Reds first January signing.
Red Star Belgrade also released a statement that hit the nail on the coffin concerning Grujic’s transfer to Liverpool;
“in the last 10 days we have received three formal offers for our player Marko Grujic from Anderlecht 2 million Euro’s, Stuttgart 5 million Euro’s, and from Liverpool 7 million Euro’s and 10% of the next transfer, all Red Star sincerely want Grujic to stay for the next 10 years, but the financial situation of our club dictates the adoption of a different decision. The board considered the offer and unanimously accepted the offer of the English giants. Liverpool will pay the money immediately, and the player will stay with Red Star until 01/07/2016. We wanted to respect the desire of the player’s father Marko Grujic remain until next summer at our club and we agreed to pay 1 million Euro’s for the loan of six months.” Concluded the statement.
The player (Grujic) after joining the Mersey side club will be loaned back to Red Star Belgrade for the rest of the season
