The goalkeeping errors made by Liverpool goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet, are set to cost him his place at the club as the management of the Reds is reportedly interested in signing SS Lazio goalkeeper, Federico Marchetti as a replacement for him. Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the deal could sail through this January as Liverpool seeks to replace the Belgian keeper who has been costing them points this season.
With the contract of Federico Marchetti set to expire in the summer of 2016, SS Lazio will be willing to sell the Italian for a cut price in January. Unlike Simon Mignolet, Marchetti has been in good form this season with little errors on his part. He has kept 4 clean sheets in 14 appearances for the Italian side this season.
Marchetti has 75% claim success rate which is less than Mignolet’s 86%; however, his punching and distribution accuracy have been far better than that of Simon Mignolet. One of the lowest point of Simon Mignolet goalkeeping was holding onto the ball for too long in his team’s Europa league game against Bordeaux of France; his error led to the equalizing goal of the French ligue 1 side, though Liverpool went on to win the match 2-1.
While Sky Sports has consistently claimed that Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp backs the Belgian goalkeeper; his time at the club may be up anytime soon as the club management seeks for a way to replace him with 32-year old Federico Marchetti.
