Talk Sports reports that Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign FC Basel midfielder, Mohamed Elneny. The report claims that the deal is expected to be completed in the next few days and medicals to be done as the transfer window opens. Arsenal are one of the favorites to win the league this season and therefore, needs reputable additions.
The Arsenal team have been decimated by injuries and are evidently in need of fresh enforcements. With the injuries to Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta. Elneny appears to be a good bargain, if Arsenal are to keep up the momentum which have seen them second on the log at mid-season.
The Egyptian midfielder who currently plays for FC Basel made his international debut for the Egyptian national team in 2011 and has since become a regular. He has since gathered 39 appearances for his country. He was part of the Basel team that lost the UEFA Cup semi final against Chelsea.
23-year old Mohamed Elneny is been tipped to fill the void left by Coquelin as his return doesn’t seem anywhere in sights. Elneny’s transfer will reportedly cost around £5million and the deal could be completed next week. The Egyptian international is capable of taking up the defensive midfield role and can also take up a more advanced role.
Elneny is a versatile player and could also be a great asset to the club as he is only 23. Elneny boasts an eye catching 92.4% pass accuracy and has also scored 2 goals in the Europa league.
