Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly planning a raid on his former club Borussia Dortmund for German defender Mats Hummels as he attempts to secure UEFA Champions League football for his team next season.
According to British media reports, Mats Hummels, 26, is Klopp’s main transfer target in the January transfer window having built a huge reputation over the past few years with Dortmund in addition to 17 goals in 178 league appearances. To this effect, he has instructed Liverpool officials to make an official bid for his services.
Hummels is a fans’ favourite at the Signa Iduna Park due to his steady performances cum great defensive contributions and Liverpool fans would be hoping he is tempted away from Germany with the lure of working with the charismatic Klopp again. A move that would undoubtedly bring solidity to the at times ‘shaky’ Reds’ backline.
