Manchester United have reportedly agreed a fee of £15m for Bundesliga side Mainz 05’s Japanese forward Yoshinori Muto, who has been on the watch-list of some top European clubs this season including EPL clubs such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham. Tottenham in particular were reported to be the closest to his signature but nothing came off the rumours.
According to the Daily Star, United have sent their Germany-based official to conclude the deal that would take the 23-year old to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
Young French forward Anthony Martial has carried United’s goalscoring burden with captain and fellow forward Wayne Rooney out of sorts this term after scoring just 2 league goals. The signing of Muto, who has scored 7 goals and assisted two others in 17 Bundesliga appearances, would ease the aforementioned goalscoring burden.
Media reports from Germany also confirmed that a £15m fee has been agreed for his services and a deal could be announced soonest though it is subject to finalising paperwork and him also having medicals.
