Having performed below par towards the end of last year with the inability of his team to score goals, Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has made his intention known to the media as regards his desire to bring a world-class striker to the Theater of Dreams this January.
As per reports from the Metro, the Dutch tactician has identified Everton forward Romelu Lukaku as the person he needs to turn the table as Manchester United forge ahead in their bid to challenge for the league title. Louis Van Gaal, who has been under massive pressure since his team’s disastrous performance began, said the 22-year old striker is his main target and he is determined to bid massively to get his service.
The Everton striker has scored 15 goals this season for his team and his lethal form has been one of the keys to his club’s high flying performances in the league. On the other hand, Manchester United are in dire need of a striker that can score as much as possible as their two forwards have performed below par. Both Anthony Martial and England captain Wayne Rooney have scored only half of the number of league goals scored by Romelu Lukaku at this stage of the season.
Having bought him from Chelsea for £28 million in the summer of 2014, Everton are expected to sell him for about £37 million and we understand that Manchester United are willing to cough as much as that once the player is available.
