Manchester United have not done badly all season but they need to make some changes still in the squad as they seem to still be lacking some attacking options for the squad and some of their recently signed players just cannot seem to do well. The team is however looking towards some very big name signings and they might need to sell off some players to bring them in.
Van Gaal has also been known as a manager who does not like a player being in the media spotlight for the wrong reasons and some of the players have been doing just that.
So based on some reasons, here are some of the players that might be axed by January:
There will be no surprises come the New Year when Victor Valdes leaves Old Trafford, ending a forgetful year-long association with Manchester United.
Arriving as a promising competitor for the goalkeeping position at United, with David De Gea’s future under intense speculation, Valdes struggled to secure much game-time throughout his first few months at the club.
Trouble started however when Van Gaal suggested that Valdes should keep goals for the reserves squad but he refused to play for the reserve squad.
Sergio Romero was quickly signed and Valdes was totally abandoned.
Another player who could see an early-end to his Manchester United career following clashes with Louis Van Gaal is Argentine defender Marcos Rojo, who infuriated his manager over the summer due to problems with his passport.
Rojo has featured regularly for the first-team since, especially following Luke Shaw’s major injury, but speculation still surrounds the young defender and it’s clear he is walking a very thin line and could be axed if these problems continue with the manager.
Manchester United fans have been wondering what James Wilson has done wrong to Louis Van Gaal, with the forward regularly overlooked despite United struggling in front of goal and to worsen it all, Marouane Fellaini is preferred in a forward role than a natural forward so it might be obvious that he will be let go by January maybe on a loan deal though.
This is a player who is presently in trouble with Van Gaal with allegations in the press that McNair was involved in a threesome incident with another team-mate and a girl, who was supposedly offered £10k to sleep with the duo.
Those allegations are being strenuously denied but it’s the sort of negative press Van Gaal hates and this might force his hand to let the player go.
The other member of the threesome drama, Andreas Pereira could also be let go in January. Although, he has stated his long-term intention is to fight for a place amid Van Gaal’s squad but the allegations in the press could prove to be his downfall.
We will have to wait and see what happens with the Manchester United squad by the January transfer window.
