The Daily Express reports that Man United have agreed a deal with SS Lazio for playmaker, Felipe Anderson to swap Rome for Manchester. The deal is believed to be in the region of £35 million with £30 million paid upfront and £5 million in bonuses when some certain conditions are met. This is a huge outlay for a player who has struggled to hit the heights of last season when his performances helped Lazio to a surprise 3rd place finish in Serie A ahead of the likes of Inter Milan and AC Milan.
The player who is capable of playing in the hole or as the leading striker will be expected to add guile to the Red Devil’s play. For anyone who has watched the Red Devils play this season, it will be obvious that they need inventive and creative players, a player that can conjure something out of nothing and make their play less labored.
Manchester United this season, have always had possession without any penetration which makes the possession redundant and sterile. This has led the club into a rough patch after starting the season brilliantly. They just broke their eight match winless run with the 2-1 victory against Swansea, their first in 4 attempts against the swans. They have struggled against teams they should be beating if they are to mount a serious challenge for the title.
The 22-year-old has made 17 appearances in the league this season scoring 4 goals and recording a single assist.
