Manchester United have agreed terms with Joel Castro Pereira, although it is reported that terms were agreed two months ago. The-19-year old stunning goalkeeper Joel Castro Pereira has returned Manchester United.
Pereira joined Rochdale early on in October on a one month loan deal, and made just 1 League One appearance.
Rochdale manager Keith Hill revealed: “We can confirm that Joel Castro Pereira has returned to Manchester United following the conclusion of his loan spell at Rochdale Football Club, The 19-year-old goalkeeper had penned a one month loan deal at the club, which has now come to an end. Castro Pereira made one appearance for Dale during his time at Spotland, playing the full 90 minutes in the side’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Quarter Final tie against Morecambe.”
Hill is disappointed with the goalkeeper’s departure but has backed him to have a bright future.
“He has returned to Manchester and disappointingly so, may I add,” Hill said.
United currently have the best defence in the premier league having conceded the fewest goals in the League two season, a feat which can be attributed mostly to the outstanding performances of David De Gea and Chris Smalling.
Pereira’s return will be greeted well at United but the youngster will know he has no chance of breaking into the United first team anytime soon with the kind of form De Gea is on.
In the event that De Gea gets injured, Sergio Romero will come in to take his place so a first team appearance is quite unlikely for Pereira.
