Welcome To Anfield – £65,000-A-Week Man United Target To Join Liverpool, Announcement Imminent

Merseyside club Liverpool are frontrunners in the race to sign Napoli and Belgium winger Dries Mertens ahead of other heavyweight clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan as the January transfer window approaches.

28-year old Mertens has been a key performer for Napoli this season contributing six goals in all competitions prompting keen interest from other European clubs.

The Belgian international whose contract ends in 2018 has however been offered a new contract by his Serie A club but has reportedly turned down the offer thus alerting Liverpool, who are ready to step in with a bid of £13m according to the Daily Star via Fichajes.

It’s highly unlikely the reported £13m would be enough to prise Mertens away from San Paolo as Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis is popularly known for demanding the biggest possible fee he can get for his players.
