With the January transfer market on the verge of being opened, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already opened talks for the signing of Filip Kostic. According to reports, the reds are confident they can get the player’s club to let him go having agreed personal terms with the player himself.
Kostic joined the Bundesliga side in the summer of 2014 from Eredivisie side in a €6 million deal and has imposed himself as a key member of Jurgen Kramny’s side. The year old has featured 13 times in the Bundesliga this term, scoring one and providing tow assist.
Klopp’s side have been heavily decimated with injuries and he has been mandated to send the season in at least top four spot on the table. To keep his hopes alive, there is the need to bolster his thin attack.
Kostic’s strength includes dribbling, good crossing ability and defensive contribution. He will fit into the high intensity of football that Liverpool currently plays.
However, he is not the only player on the radar of Liverpool. The Kop have lined up several stars in the mould of Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski as possible signings in January. Klopp has been in contact with a lot of Bundesliga stars and his major niche in the transfer market will be in Germany.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are currently in 10th position on the Premier League table and are eight points adrift of fourth place Tottenham.
