LIVERPOOL have jumped ahead of Manchester United in their quest to get teenage Bundesliga star as they have made an official approach to Schalke for young forward Leroy Sane, according to latest reports.
The 19-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest properties at the moment with four goals for Schalke this season alone and a number of clubs have taken note and are after the player with Manchester United understood to be one of the most interested suitors for the players services in their squad and recent reports are suggesting that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made signing the Germany international forward a priority.
However, German publication Bild are saying United rivals Liverpool have acted first by launching an official bid in the region of £10million for the sensational youngster.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is known to be a long-term admirer of the player and his style of play, having watched the youngster’s progress as a player in the Bundesliga.
Leroy Sane was one of a number of players linked with the Merseyside Reds. immediately after Klopp took over from the former manager Brendan Rodgers last month.
Sane joins a number of players Klopp will like to pluck away from the Bundesliga with reports linking to a number of players in the Bundesliga and even his former club which he claims he will not raid for their star players.
It remains to be seen what Klopp will finally do player reinforcements to the squad at Anfield.
