Liverpool are yet linked the club’s last summer transfer prime target Granit Xhaka Borrussia Monchengladbach and they will attempt to snap up the deal when the January transfer comes alive, per reports.
The 23-year-old Switz moved form his native club Basel to Borrussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2012 and has since established himself as one of the best anchor men in the Bundesliga.
The report of Liverpool’s desire to sign the maverick defensive midfielder was found in German newspaper Bild:
“Xhaka is on Jurgen Klopp’s wanted list, and Liverpool are planning €28 million January bid for the player”.
Following his stellar performance for the Bundesliga outfit, he was recently rewarded with an improved contract that will see him remain in the club till the summer of 2019.
However, a major weakness in his game has been his overly combative nature on the pitch but his coach Favre has revealed that they are working on it and he is getting better. Meanwhile, given his style of play, he will fit into the Premier League.
“I’m doing my best to change aspects of Granit’s combative behavior on the pitch. He is making progress , but it will take a while.” Favre said of him.
Meanwhile, Lucas has been one of the mainstay in the squad of Chelsea and Klopp is looking to build a midfield of tough tacklers and Xhaka perfectly fits into his plan.
