Jordan Henderson Returns To Training, Could Play Against Manchester City

Jordan Henderson is set to make his injury comeback following a spell on the sidelines earlier on this season.

With Henderson set to return into the fray for Liverpool, someone will have to drop down to the bench for the English midfielder and that someone is most probably going to be Emre Can as Klopp would rather play with a natural Defensive Midfielder which is Lucas than play Emre Can lying deeper.

Prior to his injury, Henderson was in great form for Liverpool and he has been sorely missed in the side since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp will be keen to play Henderson as the England international is quite similar to another player Klopp has coached previously, Ikay Gundogan.

Although many would argue Klopp could drop Milner or Lucas instead of Can, here are some key stats that speak otherwise :

* Under Klopp, Lucas is one Liverpool’s most effective players, and he performs a very important role in the team.

* Can is not a DM, and he shouldn’t be pushed into the role at the expense of Lucas.

* Milner is more experienced; more composed on the ball, and actually contributes the occasional goal/assist.

* The England man also has better passing accuracy in the final third; gets more shots on target, and also creates significantly more chances (27 vs 11).

With that said Henderson’s injury comeback would prove to be great for Liverpool over the coming months with the Hectic December period fast approaching, a month which is well known for its tight run of league fixtures.
